Robot, skimmer or both?

• A robotic skimmer (the EcoSurfer S2) floats on the surface and collects leaves, insects and pollen. It's solar-powered, so it can stay out on sunny days.
• Both together suit pools under trees or in windy spots, where debris lands every day. The skimmer catches it on top and the robot deals with whatever sinks.

What the specs mean

Runtime tells you whether the robot can finish your pool on one charge. Wall and waterline cleaning is where cheaper robots fall short, so check that the model you want lists walls and the waterline, not only the floor. Pool size ratings matter too: a robot rated for a small above-ground pool may not cover a large in-ground pool in one cycle.

Also check the filter. A larger basket means fewer stops to empty it, and a finer filter catches sand and fine dust. Look at how the robot ends its cycle: models that park at the waterline are much easier to lift out than ones that stay on the floor.

Aiper Experts Duo

The Experts Duo pairs the Scuba V3 robotic cleaner with the EcoSurfer S2 solar skimmer. Retailers list the Scuba V3 with up to 180 minutes of runtime, pools up to about 150 m² (around 1,600 sq ft), and a waterline stop so you can lift it out without a hook. The EcoSurfer S2 has a 150-micron filter and can be steered back to the edge from the app.

Scuba V3 Ultra, V3 and S3

If you only need a robot, the 2026 Scuba range in the US store runs from the Scuba S3 ($699.99) to the Scuba V3 ($899.99) and the Scuba V3 Ultra ($1,999.99), as listed in October 2026. The older Scuba X1, X1 Pro Max and S1 are still sold for in-ground pools, often in bundles with a skimmer or the Caddy stand. Pick the S3 for a smaller, simple pool, and step up to the V3 range for bigger pools, steps and more wall time.

Care and storage

Rinse the filter after every cycle and let it dry, since a clogged filter cuts suction fast. Charge the robot out of direct sun, and store it indoors over winter rather than leaving it by the pool. Give it a full charge and a test run before the season starts, because a battery left flat for months can lose capacity.

A robot cleans surfaces; it doesn't balance the water. Keep testing chlorine and pH as your pool's chemical instructions say, and see the CDC's healthy swimming advice for what to do if the pool is contaminated.
