Kaiya Baby Guide: Choosing the Right Baby Carrier or Wrap

Wrap vs. structured carrier, ergonomic positioning, and age range — what to check before you buy.

Jun 30, 2026

Kaiya Baby sells baby carriers, wraps, and related baby gear. The first decision is wrap vs. structured carrier: stretchy wraps are great for newborns and offer a snug, adjustable fit, while structured (buckle) carriers are faster to put on and generally more comfortable for extended wear as your baby grows.

Look for an ergonomic, "M-position" seat that supports the baby's hips and thighs (knees at or above hip level) rather than letting the legs hang straight down — this is the current pediatric recommendation for hip development and applies to both wraps and structured carriers.

Check the carrier's weight range and whether it supports front, hip, and back carry positions if you want it to last from newborn through toddler — a carrier that only does one position may need replacing sooner than expected.

Breathable fabric and padded shoulder straps make the biggest difference in day-to-day comfort for the parent, especially if you plan to use the carrier for long stretches or in warmer weather.
